Smart "Lion Cub" hits the rails: St. Petersburg launches a tram with an AI-based control system

16 more of these trams will appear in the city by the end of the year

A new generation single-section tram "Lion Cub" model 71-911EM has hit the rails in St. Petersburg. The vehicle was created by "PK Transport Systems".

Unlike typical cars of this model, the "Lion Cub" for St. Petersburg is equipped with an artificial intelligence-based system.

The tram has implemented elements of autopilot with an active driver assistance system - cameras "see" objects on the tracks, and the system predicts the development of the traffic situation in real time and can independently brake the car.
Alexander Dubrovkin, General Director of "PK Transport Systems"

The tram has panoramic windows and a capacity of up to 155 people. The car is equipped with a climate control system, seven USB sockets, a bicycle bracket and heated areas at the doors.

By the end of this year, 16 more of these trams will appear in the Northern capital of Russia.

Earlierwww1.ru reported that Russian "Lion Cub" tramsare running in ten cities - what's inside them.
