The Russian multi-functional medium-range anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) 9K317 Buk-M2 is designed to engage tactical and strategic aviation aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters and other enemy aircraft in the entire range of application in conditions of intense electronic and fire counteraction from the enemy.
The main firepower of the system is carried by the 9M317 anti-aircraft guided missile. It has an expanded engagement area of up to 25 km in altitude and up to 50 km in range. It provides for the use of an inertially corrected control system with a new semi-active Doppler radar seeker 9E420.
The mass of the warhead of the missile is 70 kg, the flight speed is up to 1230 m/s. Wing span - 860 mm. The engine is a two-mode solid propellant rocket engine. The missile has a high level of reliability, it does not require checks and adjustments during the entire service life - 10 years.
