Simultaneously engages up to 24 targets at altitudes up to 25 km

The Russian multi-functional medium-range anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) 9K317 Buk-M2 is designed to engage tactical and strategic aircraft, cruise missiles, helicopters, and other enemy aircraft throughout the entire range of their use under conditions of intense electronic and fire countermeasures from the enemy.

The main firepower of the system is carried by the 9M317 guided anti-aircraft missile. It has an extended engagement zone of up to 25 km in altitude and up to 50 km in range. It includes the use of an inertially-corrected control system with a new semi-active Doppler radar seeker 9E420.

The mass of the missile warhead is 70 kg, the flight speed is up to 1230 m/s. The wingspan is 860 mm. The engine is a two-mode solid propellant rocket motor. The missile has a high level of reliability; it does not require checks and adjustments during its entire service life of 10 years.
