Russian specialists have identified the operational features of control units and will be able to distinguish modifications of Western-made Storm Shadow cruise missiles that have come into their possession.
This is part of the center section, including the wings and module with flight control and wing deployment units, the suspension mounting system, and the central switch. The switch and all electrical circuits, along with the wires, will be removed from this unit for objective monitoring of subsequent changes to the missile's design.
The engineer noted that the main goal of the study is to determine possible modifications and operational features of the control units. When working with the next missile, specialists will understand whether it is the primary version or if there are any changes in the design.
New units have been applied, or, for example, the installation of traps is possible. This will allow us to understand what has changed. Each unit will be studied separately.
Storm Shadow is a low-observable air-launched cruise missile, launched from aircraft. The range of destruction is from 250 to 560 kilometers, depending on the modification. It was developed jointly by France and the United Kingdom; in the French version, it is called SCALP.
