Russian military personnel at the forefront have deployed the latest electronic warfare reconnaissance system, "Thorn." The system intercepts radio communications and determines the location of the enemy in real time.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation noted that when operators work on the automated mobile radio reconnaissance complex "Thorn," every detail is of great importance - from camouflage to equipment settings.
In a dense forest belt, the scouts first choose a suitable place to install powerful antennas that intercept enemy signals from tens of kilometers away. After the camouflage is completed, the soldiers leave the point, and the antenna already operates independently without the participation of radio reconnaissance personnel.
A feature of the complex is its round-the-clock operation. Operators are on duty in shifts, and they are the first to listen to enemy negotiations or locate their radio stations.
This is a location and radio monitoring complex. There was a moment when our units were conducting combat operations, and we monitored it in real time. We hear that the enemy is planning to retreat to such and such place, and when they have some kind of panic, they stop encrypting. They need to go to such and such place, to the road, under the bridge. We promptly sent this information to our units, which carried out successful actions.
Thus, the automated mobile radio reconnaissance complexes "Thorn" significantly increase the capabilities of collecting intelligence information. The complexes are designed for analyzing, searching, and registering signals, as well as determining the location and direction finding of their sources from a distance of several tens of kilometers.
Earlier,www1.ru reported that the Russian military is alsousing the advanced high-mobility multi-functional medium-range anti-aircraft missile system "Viking" to repel air threats.
