Russian engineers have extracted elements of the guidance and control system of the Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missile that fell into their hands. They dismantled the control equipment, including servo drives, blocks, rudders, and various structural elements.
This material provides objective control of the missile's flight system and possible air defense countermeasures for better engagement with these targets.
Specialists are conducting a detailed study of the design of warheads and fuse circuits. This is necessary work for neutralization, in order to transport these warheads and destroy them outside of populated areas.
Storm Shadow is a low-observable air-launched cruise missile jointly developed by France and the United Kingdom. It is launched from aircraft, with a range of 250 to 560 kilometers depending on the modification.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian military forces are also using the advanced high-mobility multi-functional Viking medium-range anti-aircraft missile system to repel aerial threats.
