In the first half of 2024, more than 900,000 vehicles were connected to the state information system "Era-GLONASS", which is twice as much as in the first half of last year. This is reported by the press service of the company "GLONASS".
As part of parallel imports, legal entities, individual entrepreneurs and proactive car owners installed SOS buttons on 32,000 vehicles.
In total, the system received 43,000 emergency calls this year. They were redirected to emergency services. 82% of them — automatically. In total, 385 thousand calls have been transferred in nine years.
The system works as follows: the device in the car exchanges data with "Era-GLONASS" and regional "Systems-112". In the event of an accident, emergency services receive the coordinates of the accident, the characteristics of the car in which the system is installed, and the direction of travel. On average, information reaches them 19 seconds after the incident.
