Representatives of Russian transport companies noted problems with cargo transportation. Russian Railways (RZD) has stopped allocating containers for sending goods.
Problems with cargo transportation in cooperation with Russian Railways began in the spring of this year. The company focused on container transportation of coal and imports, neglecting commercial cargo within the country.
Representatives of transport companies throughout Russia complain about the difficulties that have arisen. But complaints to Russian Railways remain unanswered. The company explains the problem by the lack of wagons. Meanwhile, some containers have been idle in terminals since spring.
All this may lead to the fact that transport companies will be forced to use cargo transportation. This will affect the increase in the cost of goods for the end consumer. In addition, state-owned enterprises risk being included in the list of unscrupulous suppliers due to the lack of opportunity to fulfill the terms of government contracts.
Representatives of transport companies have already sent a collective appeal to the administration of the President of Russia. No response has been received yet.
The basic reasons for the container imbalance include:
- Increase in the volume of import container traffic over export.
- Low level of containerization of domestic and foreign traffic flows.
- Change in the geography of logistics.
It is worth noting that Russian Railways has been going through hard times since 2022. The company had to change the terms of cargo deliveries and revise railway logistics against the background of anti-Russian sanctions.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian Railways delayed the supply of LPG to Kyrgyzstan due to a shortage of tanks.
