In 2023, St. Petersburg topped the list of the top 10 regions in Russia in terms of the number of robots used in enterprises. In total, 12.8 thousand robots were used in this sector, which is confirmed by the results of a study by the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge of the Higher School of Economics.
1.3 thousand robots are employed in the manufacturing industry in the Northern capital. Many of them are involved in 3 automobile plants. The Samara region is in second place, the Moscow region is in third place, and Tatarstan is in fourth place. The top five is closed by the Kaluga region.
According to Rosstat, in 2022, 19% of manufacturing enterprises used industrial robots and automated lines. This is comparable to the average level in the EU (16.3%). The study specifies that Russia also surpassed Italy (15.8%) and Germany (14.7%) in this indicator.
In the countries of the European Union, industrial robots are actively used in mechanical engineering, the production of metal and metal products. In Russia, robots are common in the automotive industry, food production, medicines, textiles, and wood processing.
