Cognitive Pilot (a brainchild of Sber and Cognitive Technologies) will begin developing autopilots with integrated artificial intelligence (AI) to modernize trams. The first delivery of the new transport is scheduled for the end of this year, according to the Governor of the Yaroslavl Region, Mikhail Evraev.
According to the Governor, the project will solve a number of important tasks - reduce the burden on drivers, ensure passenger comfort, and reduce the number of accidents on the roads.
Our AI system is capable of ensuring traffic safety in any weather, in any road conditions: at night, in rain, fog, snow, in case of blinding by light, etc. It consists of more than 80% of domestic components.
The agreement between Cognitive Pilot and the government of the Yaroslavl Region for the supply of smart trams was signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2024). The autopilots are planned to be installed at the Ust-Katav Wagon-Building Plant (UKVZ).
It was previously reported that more than 80% of trams in Moscowwill be unmanned by 2027.
