The Russian Navy has begun to develop a new program to protect ships from unmanned boats (BEC) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the enemy. Naval sailors are already receiving additional weapons to combat drones, Izvestia reported.
A new training course on anti-drone protection has been included in the combat training program of surface ships of the Russian Navy. It provides for the training of crews of ships and ship formations to counter BEC and UAVs of the enemy. The program includes exercises such as shooting at air and surface small-sized targets.
To combat the new threat, the military received additional weapons - anti-drone and pump-action rifles, large-caliber machine guns, night vision devices and other special equipment.
Once a new type of weapon has appeared, which is quite effective, it is now necessary to develop tactical techniques: on the one hand, to counter this weapon, and on the other hand, to effectively use it against the enemy. This is what the Russian Navy is currently doing, and in a timely manner.
No room for error
The first line of defense in the confrontation with BEC will be the destruction of devices in the places of production and delivery routes, explained military expert Dmitry Boltenkov. According to him, after that, aircraft and helicopters should come into play, which have already proven their effectiveness in the fight against unmanned boats.
The fight of ships with BEC or UAVs is the last frontier. Here the crew has no right to make a mistake. People must be prepared to repel attacks and act in a coordinated manner.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Black Sea Fleet will receive a thermal imaging complex to repel attacks by unmanned boats. This device will be able to detect BECs at a distance of up to one kilometer.
