Russian Railways launched a new service: the service includes the transportation of pets without accompaniment

JSC Russian Railways (RZD) has improved the service. Pet owners now have the opportunity to transport pets without accompaniment on all long-distance trains. This can be done on the company's website without the need to register at special baggage offices, the press service of Russian Railways reported.

To use the service, you need to select a route and click on the "Transportation of animals without an escort" tab. Then, an application is filled out with the data (information about the animal, full name, phone number of the sender and recipient).

After booking and paying for the service, the receipt comes to the client in the "My Orders" section of the personal account.

Before the trip, the documents must be printed and presented to the conductor.

From January to April 2024, more than 24 thousand animals were transported by long-distance trains without the accompaniment of their owners, but there were some accidents.

It is worth recalling that the reason for revising the rules for the transportation of animals with their personalization in travel documents was the sad story with the cat Tweek, which happened in January of this year. The pet was walking around the train car, was mistaken by the conductor for a homeless animal and released from the car. As a result, the animal died in the cold.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russians will be able to specify the nickname and type of pet when issuing a train ticket.
