The "Dispersion" Experiment Will Also Be Useful for Students on Earth

On the ISS, Roscosmos cosmonaut Nikolai Chub conducted the educational and demonstrational space experiment "Dispersion," related to the exploration of the Moon.

According to TASS special correspondent Oleg Kononenko, commander of the Roscosmos cosmonaut corps, this scientific work had two objectives.

The main goal of the experiment is to demonstrate the processes of liquid phase separation in polymer-solvent systems and to study the behavior of liquid-phase dispersions under microgravity conditions. In addition, the experiment aims to provide university students with practical skills in preparing a laboratory workshop on the physical chemistry of dispersed systems.

The results of the work will be applied in the creation of materials and structural elements in the lunar program. Also, this basis can be used to develop technological modes for obtaining and forming composite dispersed materials based on lunar soil.
