«Smart Buses» from Perm Monitor Drivers and Accept Contactless Payment

The upgraded digital vehicle is based on the city NEFAZ 5299-40-57

At the digital technology exhibition within the CIPR in Nizhny Novgorod, a unique «Smart Bus» was showcased. This is a standard gas-powered NEFAZ 5299-40-57, which was upgraded by order of regional stakeholders: Perm Municipal Unitary Enterprise «PermGorElectroTrans» with the participation of the Ministry of Transport of the Perm Territory, the Department of Transport of Perm, and LLC «IT-CenterService».

The «Smart Bus» from «KAMAZ»'s «daughter» after the upgrade can:

  • monitor the attention and fatigue of drivers;
  • monitor the internal state of the bus;
  • accept contactless payment for travel via a mobile application and QR code. This uses a solution from PJSC «MTS» with geolocation of passengers transmitted via Bluetooth Low Energy, GPS/GLONASS technologies. The service ensures cashless payment based on the final route and receipt of an electronic check;
  • provide route guidance using voice and visual information;
  • count passengers — each such bus has a comprehensive passenger flow accounting system, which is based on a computing unit with built-in video cameras. Passenger counting is done through neural network video analytics.

«Smart Buses» help ensure the safety of urban and transport infrastructure. The experience of the Perm Territory has interested representatives from other regions of Russia.
