Under the VOLGA brand, a D-class sedan will be produced, it was named C40, a C-class crossover - K30, and a D-class crossover - K40. All three cars are equipped with a 188-horsepower turbocharged engine and a 7-speed automatic transmission.
According to industry experts, VOLGA C40 is a copy of Changan Raeton Plus, VOLGA K30 is Oshan X5 Plus, and VOLGA K40 is Changan UNI-Z. All cars have original front bumpers with a radiator grille, which features the deer emblem loved by many, like the classic Volga cars.
It is possible that the new VOLGA will be sold through former Skoda car dealers.
Cars will begin to be assembled in 2024, and full production will begin in 2025. The company "Production of passenger cars" stated that they are working on localizing car production. The first model to be put on the assembly line will be the VOLGA C40.
According to insiders, GAZ will invest about 60 billion rubles in the relaunch of the VOLGA brand. The costs include design work, the creation of production facilities and the localization of production.
