Against the backdrop of Western sanctions, the Russian authorities decided to create an import-substituted passenger aircraft MC-21-310. The largest aircraft construction enterprises in the country joined the cooperation for the production of units, systems and other aircraft components.

The Nizhny Novgorod Aircraft Building Plant "Sokol" will also join the creation of the MC-21-310. Here they will master the full cycle of assembly of the keel beam compartment, the manufacture of door parts. It is expected that for this purpose, by 2026, 12 production sites will be repaired, equipped and launched at the plant.

The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) planned to deliver 6 MC-21 aircraft to customers in 2024. However, these plans had to be changed. The Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that by the end of 2024, the aircraft will only receive the necessary certificates.
