Russia has created an experimental mobile radiation therapy complex

The project is based on betatron technology

The mobile radiation therapy complex was created by JSC "RESHETNEV" in collaboration with Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU). The experimental prototype is currently undergoing testing. Work on its creation has been underway for three years.

The operation of the new device is based on betatron technology (a cyclic accelerator in which the energy of electrons is increased due to a vortex electric field). The development of betatrons is carried out by TPU specialists. The devices are compact and mobile.

Currently, scientists are engaged in radiation testing of the new device. Following the results of the research, it is planned to obtain a registration certificate before the end of 2024. Further, the mobile radiation therapy complex will be used to treat cancer patients.

Earlier www1.ru reported that scientists in Krasnoyarsk developed gold nanoparticles for cancer treatment.
