Chinese electronics manufacturer Haier has posted vacancies for a technical director and Evo TV project manager on the hh.ru job search service. The focus is on developing an operating system based on Android (AOSP) designed for televisions.
The Evo TV brand is a content aggregator from Russian online cinemas. Haier TVs themselves run on the Google TV platform (Android TV version).
Sources in the electronics market explained that the management of the Chinese company understands the risks associated with Google. The American IT giant, due to Western sanctions, may restrict access to Android TV in Russia. In addition, Haier expects to earn from advertising when using its own OS and aggregators based on it.

Members of the expert community are confident that Haier is making long-term plans. The company is investing heavily in localizing production in Russia, so it expects to increase its market share. Mikhail Burmistrov, head of "Infoline-Analytics," stated that creating its own OS is a step towards direct competition with "Yandex" and Sber.
