Will Migrants Be Banned from Buying Weapons in Russia?

A bill to ban the acquisition of weapons by foreign citizens is under consideration

Members of the Communist Party faction have submitted a bill to the State Duma banning foreign citizens from acquiring weapons in Russia. In the format of another initiative, the ban will also extend to former migrants who have already received Russian citizenship but have not yet registered for military service.

The initiators of the law emphasized that many former citizens of other countries who have already officially received Russian citizenship acquire weapons but are in no hurry to register for military service. Restrictive measures will not apply to people who are not registered for health reasons.

For now, migrants retain the right to import and acquire civilian firearms in Russia. But the authorities cannot fully collect information about citizens of other countries. This creates all sorts of risks, which a complete ban on the purchase of weapons will protect against.

It was previously noted that developers from Smart Engines have created a new system for verifying the authenticity of passports of the CIS countries based on artificial intelligence.
