A new stage in the construction of a naval transport for the Russian Navy has begun at the USC shipyard "Vympel". The vessel "Vladimir Pyalov" of Project 20360M was rolled out of the boathouse and placed on an open slipway.
At this stage, it is planned to install the upper tier of the superstructure, and then launch the vessel. The vessel is named after the outstanding designer of nuclear submarines Vladimir Nikolaevich Pyalov, the former chief designer of the USC "Malachite" design bureau.
During his career, Vladimir Pyalov played a significant role in making the domestic submarine fleet strong and modern. His main achievement was the creation of the lead ship of Project 885 — the nuclear submarine "Severodvinsk".
The naval transport project was developed by the USC "Vympel" design bureau from Nizhny Novgorod. The vessel is designed to receive, store, and transport dangerous goods of hazard categories 1–6 to submarines and surface ships — fully prepared and tested torpedoes, anti-submarine, cruise and anti-aircraft missiles, mines, hydroacoustic countermeasures, and artillery ammunition of all calibers. Vessels of Project 20360M can operate at coastal berths, at undeveloped coastlines, in the inner and outer roads of main bases, in concentrated basing points, and at sea with waves of no more than 3 points. It is planned that upon completion of construction, "Vladimir Pyalov" will serve in the Baltic Fleet.
The vessel can perform the following additional tasks:
- localization and collection of petroleum products with a flash point of more than 60 °С
from the sea surface (oil spill response equipment in a container version is not an accessory of the vessel);
- helicopter reception (without basing and refueling);
- transportation of containers on the open part of the deck, as well as other deck and hold cargo.
"Vladimir Pyalov" has a full displacement of more than 3600 tons, and its length is about 80 meters. It has high seaworthiness and cruising range. The vessel is equipped with ice reinforcement of the hull, a double bottom and sides, and has two cargo holds, a platform for transporting goods in containers, a crane with a lifting capacity of 20 tons, and a bow helicopter landing pad.
It should be recalled that the solemn laying of the second in a series of two naval armament transport vessels (MTV) of Project 20360M, factory number 01552 "Vladimir Pyalov", took place on March 15, 2018, at the Nobel Brothers Shipyard.
