AGR Company, which owns the former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg, announced that in the first quarter of 2024, 3,000 cars under the Solaris brand rolled off the assembly line. This includes the HS (renamed Hyundai Solaris), HC (Hyundai Creta), KRS (Kia Rio), KRX (Kia Rio X-line) models. The company intends to increase production in the second quarter of 2024.
We are proud that after two years of downtime, we were able to quickly establish the operation of both the car factory itself and Russian suppliers and partners. We are grateful to the dealers who were very enthusiastic about the news of the supply of cars under the Solaris brand and are already reporting a high demand for our products.
The cars have been sent to showrooms in Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Urals, the Caucasus, Siberia and other Russian cities.
The cars are assembled using a full production cycle: the plant has stamping, welding, painting, and assembly shops. There are 240 industrial robots installed at the production site.
Kalitsev added that the entire technological process of the enterprise, which remained from Hyundai, was preserved, and key employees continue to work at the plant. He emphasized that this site has become the most modern plant in Russia.
As a reminder, at the end of January 2024, Art-Finance Company, which is part of the AGR Automotive Group holding, acquired the former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg. In February, production of cars under the Solaris brand began.
