The PSMA Rus plant in Kaluga, which had been idle since April 2022, has resumed production of Citroen C5 Aircross crossovers. The cars are assembled using the SKD-4 method. Assembly kits for the crossovers come from China. The estimated cost of the car is 4.3 million rubles, and sales will begin in May.
The restart of the plant was invested in by the company "Automobile Technologies", which is assisted by a large unnamed investor. Citroen itself and the Stellantis concern have no relation to the resumption of production.
How Citroen is assembled using the SKD-4 method
Harnesses for the interior and engine compartment, sound insulation, carpeting and other components are installed on the painted welded body. The engine is assembled on the mechanics line, where attachments are installed, the subframe and front suspension are assembled, and the 1.6-liter EP6 turbocharged engine and 8-speed automatic transmission are mated. The crossovers are only front-wheel drive.
The final part of the assembly includes filling with fluids, installing interior trim, bumpers, seats, wheels and a comprehensive vehicle check.
For now, the assembly line produces 2 cars per hour. Later, they promise localization of production: welding, painting and much more.
C5 Aircross temporarily lost "warm options"
The Citroen C5 Aircross will have one configuration, which does not yet have "warm options". They will appear closer to winter and will include heated front and rear seats, windshield and washer nozzles. Multimedia with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support is promised very soon.
Earlier, www1.ru wrote that the Ministry of Industry and Trade allowed officials to purchase foreign Citroen C5 Aircross cars.
