The Avilon dealer holding may lose the former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga. This will happen if the company does not start producing cars by the end of 2024. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is dissatisfied with the fact that the site is idle, said auto expert Sergei Tsiganov.
According to Tsiganov, representatives of Avilon need to negotiate with suppliers of spare parts directly, and not through third parties.

In January, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, said that the production of cars at the former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga should be launched in the first half of 2024. The expert community believed that the technological partner of the enterprise could be the Chinese company GAC.
Volkswagen sold the plant in Kaluga in May 2023 without the right of repurchase. Now it belongs to Art-Finance LLC, which is associated with the Avilon dealership.
