The Ministry of Digital Development of Russia plans to develop a platform for detecting deepfakes (ultra-fakes, a technology for synthesizing voice or images using artificial intelligence) on behalf of the head of government Mikhail Mishustin.
The possibility of creating a unified platform that will identify unreliable information generated, including using AI technologies, is being discussed
Who is fighting deepfakes now
In the Russian segment of the Internet, deepfakes are manually identified by forensic scientists and information security experts. They have to analyze each photo and video.
The creation of a platform to combat ultra-fakes has great prospects. Financial institutions, media, and social networks are primarily interested in them.
Experts in identifying speech deepfakes:
- Research Institute "Kvant"
- CRT, Rostelecom
- Rostec Structures
- Sber Subdivisions
- "Yandex" Subdivisions
Experts believe that a browser plugin could become a tool for identifying deepfakes. With its help, you can scan sites for synthesized AI content. The Ministry of Digital Affairs has not yet commented on what the platform for combating deepfakes will look like.
