Самолет Ил-76 спустит дата-центр прямо на льдину в Арктике

Compact Data Center to Appear in Barneo Ice Camp

Russian company RUVDS will deploy server equipment in the Arctic in the spring. A heavy Il-76 transport aircraft will drop a compact data center (data processing center) onto a drifting ice floe.

The data center will appear in the Barneo ice camp near the North Pole. It is necessary to maintain communication with the RUDVS spacecraft and transmit telemetry data. This will allow testing the performance of server equipment in Arctic conditions.

The Arctic theme is very relevant, and we can offer communications and infrastructure to those who are developing this region
CEO of VPS server hosting provider RUVDS Nikita Tsaplin

He recalled that the RUDVS spacecraft, launched into orbit in 2023, flies over the North Pole every 1.5 hours. Thanks to this, the signal goes without interference.

The data center will be deployed in the Arctic in late March. It is expected to operate for about a month.
