КамАЗ дорабатывает роботизированную трансмиссию для грузовиков

The main difficulty is in calibrating the automatic transmission control unit

KamAZ continues to work on creating a domestic robotic transmission. Trucks were left without automatic transmissions after the departure in 2022 from the Russian market of the German company ZF, which worked with the concern in this direction.

According to "Autoreview", the main difficulty for designers arises with the calibration of the automatic transmission. The robotic gearbox switches gears and disengages the clutch using actuators. Calibration is needed to ensure smooth gear shifting.

Recall that in September 2023, at the Comtrans exhibition, KamAZ showed two types of automated gearboxes localized in Russia for K5 trucks: a 9-speed A1310T transmission designed for installation in main tractors, and a 16-speed A2520TO for heavy trucks.

Robotic transmissions are the most common choice as automatic transmissions for trucks. The reason is that they are more economical than a classic "automatic". Compared to a classic automatic transmission, such transmissions have a slower gear shifting speed, but it is not critical for heavy trucks.

Earlier www1.ru reported that KamAZ shut down the production of cabover trucks "Compass". The final model of the "Compass-3" line will be mastered by the auto giant in 2024.
