The plant produces parts and assemblies for AvtoVAZ, UAZ, KamAZ and other domestic automakers. Now it will be able to apply for tax benefits as a project participant. 122 jobs have already been created, and by the end of the year, in partnership with the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, another 222 convicts will find work there.

It is noted that people who have committed crimes of minor and medium severity are sent to the correctional center. Forced labor for them is an alternative punishment that is not considered imprisonment. Those who are sentenced to such work are not under guard, but are settled in separate dormitories and work in enterprises, receiving a salary.

This is not the first experience for the Russian automotive industry. For example, representatives of «Ural» have already cooperated with the Federal Penitentiary Service. In 2022, about 30 prisoners were sent to the plant from among those convicted of crimes committed through negligence, and those convicted of intentionally committing a minor or medium-gravity crime for the first time. In 2023, one hundred prisoners were involved in working at this plant.

In addition, in 2023, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, noted in an interview with the RBC TV channel that his concern intends to attract convicts sentenced to correctional labor to the plant in Togliatti - one to two hundred people.
