The authorities of the Kaliningrad region have purchased 10 multifunctional reconnaissance drones of the helicopter type «Som-5». This was announced by the governor of the region, Anton Alikhanov.
«Som-5» is capable of flying 200 km, being en route for more than three hours, and also rising to a height of up to 5 km. The drone does not make noise during the flight. It is equipped with a thermal imaging camera, which helps military personnel monitor the enemy in the dark.
Earlier it was reported that the engineers of the design bureau «MiS» developed a drone with a program to return to the starting point in case of loss of communication with the operator.
