According to the Russian Automobile Dealers Association, 19 new Chinese brands appeared on the Russian market in 2023. In total, the country features products from 29 car manufacturers from China.
These include Jaecoo, Jetour, Baic, Kaiyi, Voyah, Livan, Ora, Forthing, Skywell, SWM, Honqgi, Dongfeng, Li Xiang, Haima, Jetta, Wey, Aito, Rising, Venucia. Russians can also purchase cars from Chery, Geely, Omoda, FAW, Changan, Haval, JAC, Exeed, Tank, and GAC.
The association explained that analysts only counted the brands that are officially represented in the country. However, if all Chinese brands supplied unofficially are taken into account, their number is around 60.
Despite the abundance of Chinese cars, the domestic AvtoVAZ remains the leader in passenger car sales. Drivers choose Russian cars due to their affordable price, the availability of all parts and components, and an extended warranty.
It is known that in 2023, AvtoVAZ accounted for a third of the market. And thanks to the state order, the concern plans to increase the production of passenger cars, which officials will switch to.
