The self-propelled artillery unit (SPG) "Msta-S" will be modernized, and the howitzer's turret protection will be enhanced, according to a source in the Russian defense industry complex.
According to the source, engineers will take into account the methods used by the enemy to combat the "Msta-S".
Features of the "Msta-S" SPG:
- High rate of fire
- Firing with various types of ammunition
- Rapid deployment and withdrawal from position
The 2S19 "Msta-S" is a 155 mm caliber howitzer developed by the Ural Transport Machine-Building Plant. The howitzer fires high-explosive fragmentation shells and cluster shells with fragmentation submunitions.
Earlier, the Russian military received a batch of modernized "Msta-S" M1 and "Msta-S" M2 SPGs.
