The first flight test complex for drones in Russia will open in Moscow in the first quarter of 2024.
It will be located on the territory of the Federal Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems in the Rudnevo Industrial Park, the Center for Collective Use, which was shown to the public in November 2023.
According to the acting General Director of the Federal Center Oleg Ruzsky, the entire flight test complex, including buildings, occupies 16.2 thousand square meters. It includes two drone ports, three parking spaces for unmanned aerial vehicles, and a landing site measuring 120x50 m. It was the first in Russia to receive a special aeronautical passport for the UAS site.
The flight zone will be 5 hectares for flights in a natural environment, that is, in the sky, and a hangar with an area of 6 thousand square meters is being prepared for primary tests. A ground and air measuring complex will help track flights.
Currently, the Federal Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems has 120 thousand square meters built up, and by 2027 its territory will grow to 800 thousand square meters. Similar centers, but not so large, will appear in about fifty Russian regions by 2027 under the national development project of the UAS.
