The Governor of Tomsk Oblast, Vladimir Mazur, reported a 1.5-fold increase in the production of computers, electronic and optical products in nine months.
According to Mazur, the manufacturing sector is showing 11.5% growth this year. The production of machinery and equipment has grown by more than a third, and the production of electrical equipment, petroleum products, and clothing is developing. Investors are negotiating the opening of production of building materials, paints and other industries.
In addition, Mazur reminded in an interview with TASS news agency that the first technological line of the Tugan Mining and Processing Plant "Ilmenit" has reached its design capacity, which covers 10% of Russia's needs for zircon concentrates. The second line of "Ilmenit" will cover 50% of Russia's needs.
The new plant will become the "heart" of the regional cluster of non-ferrous and rare earth metals, which we are creating with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. We have already agreed with a number of investors on the opening of production of building materials, paints and others.
However, earlier in 2022, the press service of the regional administration, citing data from Tomskstat, also informed that the production of computers, electronic and optical products increased by 50% in nine months of the year.
