The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA, collaborating with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration - NASA) reported that a strong flare with an intensity of X2.8 was recorded on the Sun the previous evening.
It is noted that this is the most powerful release of energy in the Sun's atmosphere since the beginning of 2023.
As clarified by the Phobos weather center, flares of this magnitude were last recorded in 2017. Forecasters explained that such astronomical events precede powerful magnetic storms. The nearest one will hit Earth on Saturday, December 16.
