NPO Energomash has assembled the second liquid rocket engine RD-171MV, which is considered the most powerful in the world. It can put up to 17 tons of cargo into a reference orbit. This flight model is used in the first stage of the Soyuz-5 medium-class launch vehicle.
RD171MV is a modernized version of the RD-171M engine, it was developed and assembled in 6 years. This is the first engine that the designers of the Roscosmos "daughter" company designed as an electronic 3D model.
After the assembly of the third sample, scientists will begin interdepartmental tests of the RD-171MV and its serial production for the completion of Soyuz-5.
