Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that iOS (the operating system for devices developed by the American company Apple) is a "wonderful invention" that he still uses. Thus, he commented on the course chosen by the Russian leadership to abandon Western technology for officials.
The Kremlin representative also spoke about the characteristics of iOS, stating that "one should focus on the best."
Agree that the iPhone is a wonderful invention. And the iOS operating system is something that we have not yet been able to create ourselves
At the same time, Peskov urged to remember that iOS is a perfect system for the West, but not for Russia. It has vulnerabilities in terms of security and the safety of confidential data.
When asked whether there are still employees in the presidential administration who use iPhones, the press secretary said that some use them, while others have already refused. Peskov himself has not switched to a smartphone with a domestic OS.
I still use an iPhone
In March 2023, the media reported that employees of the presidential administration were recommended to abandon iPhones and switch to smartphones based on another OS. Later, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation banned its employees from using Apple equipment.
As an alternative, gadgets with the Russian OS "Aurora" are offered. They went on sale in November and caused a great stir.
