The "Battle Broom" is not a new type of weapon, but a well-known quad anti-aircraft gun ZPU-4 that has been around for decades. The ZPU-4 was designed more than fifty years ago based on the 14.5-mm Vladimirov heavy machine gun with a firing range of up to 2 km.

It can hit both enemy manpower and its strongholds, as well as lightly armored vehicles. For maneuverability and rapid movement, anti-aircraft guns are based on Ural vehicles.

In addition to the "Battle Broom", other anti-aircraft guns C-60, known since the Soviet period, are also installed on Urals by the Russian military. Both types of weapons use modern fragmentation ammunition capable of detonating in the air above the enemy.
