Дрон дальнего действия: в Петербурге разработали беспилотник-ретранслятор сигнала

Russian rescuers will receive an advanced signal repeater drone

Engineers at the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPFIC RAS) have developed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that can be used to increase cellular coverage.

The drone is suitable for the work of employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and rescue teams in places where the equipment does not catch a communication signal well. Previously, a ground repeater was used for these purposes.

However, this technique copes well with its task on the plain, and works much worse in hilly terrain. Employees of the SPFIC RAS proposed a solution to this problem by presenting a repeater drone.

The new drone can carry up to 2 kg of payload. Thanks to its lightweight design, the drone can stay in the air twice as long as its counterparts. The control system consists of a helmet with a camera and an ergonomic joystick.

Earlier, engineers at the Central Design Bureau of Robotics came up with how to use combat FPV drones for peaceful purposes. It turned out that drones can detect leaks of harmful gases.
