The full-size Chinese SUV Tank 500 (a sub-brand of Great Wall Motors) may be localized at the Haval Motor Manufacturing Rus plant in Tula, according to auto expert Sergei Tsyganov. According to him, this will happen no earlier than the third quarter of 2025.
The expert came to these conclusions after learning that they want to organize the assembly of engines for the Tank 500 - V6 E30Z - in Tula.
Tsyganov added that the same engine is planned to be installed on Russian Aurus cars. He believes that for a family of representative-class cars, this will be a "relatively cheap serial engine." Tsyganov did not provide other details.
The Tank 500 SUV has been produced since 2021. The car has a 4 × 4 wheel formula and is equipped with a four-cylinder internal combustion engine with a volume of 2 liters and an automatic transmission.
Aurus is a domestic brand. The development of armored versions of SUVs is carried out by specialists from FSUE "NAMI." Standard models are produced in Sollers-Yelabuga. The pride of the Russian automotive industry is the Aurus Komendant. The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, was behind the wheel of this model, and he also presented it to colleagues from the CIS countries.
