Российские космонавты готовятся к выходу в открытый космос после аварии на модуле «Наука»

Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub will spend almost seven hours performing their tasks live

The final hours of preparation for the spacewalk of Russians Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub are underway on the ISS. Cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov will be watching over the Russian segment of the station and helping his colleagues outside the ISS.

The Russian Orlan-ISS spacesuit allows you to work in the vacuum of outer space for up to 10 hours.

The work will last almost seven hours and will be broadcast live on all Roscosmos resources. The opening of the hatch of the "Poisk" module will take place at 20:55 Moscow time.

Kononenko and Chub will be the first inhabitants of the ISS to go into outer space after the recent accident on the Russian Nauka module. The coolant leak from the external radiator circuit and the investigation of the causes of the accident forced the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to ban astronauts from going into space until the end of the year.

Roscosmos did not cancel the planned extravehicular activities for Chub and Kononenko. They have a unique and responsible mission: to get to the site of the hydraulic line break, inspect the site and take pictures to send to Earth.

The previous tasks remain for the cosmonauts. They must install a radar on the damaged Nauka module to observe the Earth's surface and launch the Parus-MSTU student nanosatellite.
