Employees of JSC "Information Satellite Systems" named after Academician M. F. Reshetnev" (part of Roscosmos) from Zheleznogorsk are creating a prototype of a mobile radiation therapy system before sending it to mass production.
According to the company's press service, the most important elements of the equipment have been manufactured, in particular, frames, power supply panels, and applicators.
With the help of applicators, the radiation will be focused in such a way as not to damage healthy human tissues. Tomsk Polytechnic University is a partner of JSC "Reshetnev" in the creation of medical equipment. It is on the basis of the university that the applicators will be tested.
Then these elements will be sent to Zheleznogorsk for subsequent installation in the device. The first pre-production sample is expected to be assembled at the end of October.
JSC "Reshetnev" is the leader in Russia in the creation of communication, navigation and geodesy spacecraft. The company is an executor in key projects within the framework of state programs in space activities.
