Specialists from the Military Academy of Logistics named after General of the Army A. V. Khrulev have designed a new armored fuel tanker.
According to TASS news agency, which has a description of the utility model for the patent, it is based on the universal tracked platform T-15 "Armata" from Uralvagonzavod.
It is noted that the fuel tanker is equipped with multi-layer armor made of armor steel with ceramic inserts. When hit, the ceramic elements absorb the energy of the projectile, are destroyed, and affect the movement of other ceramic elements in the plane of the armor. Thus, the axial impact pulse is converted into a pulse in the plane of the armor.
The fuel tank and technological equipment are installed and rigidly fixed inside the armored hull, the crew with controls has its own armored capsule, and the engine-transmission compartment is located behind a separate armored bulkhead. This design is expected to make the armored fuel tanker "extremely survivable even in the event of multiple armor damage".
The Military Academy of Logistics named after General of the Army A. V. Khrulev believes that, thanks to these characteristics, the fuel tanker will be able to operate in areas of active combat operations. And even go to those areas where the enemy uses large-caliber weapons against the Armed Forces of Russia or law enforcement agencies.
