Engineers of JSC "Corporation "MIT" (part of Roscosmos) have developed a project of a track with a maglev train (moves and is controlled by electromagnetic force, i.e. it actually flies over the tracks - editor's note www1.ru) as part of an agreement with the government of the Leningrad region. The passenger monorail transport system for the metro line "Devyatkino"- Shopping Center "Mega-Parnas" is being discussed.

It is noted that the company created a working full-size model of the train in 2021. The results of running tests, which were conducted a year later, confirmed the engineers' calculations.

In August 2022, the general designer of JSC "Corporation "MIT" Yuri Solomonov announced that the launch of the monorail transport system is planned for 2025. He also noted that the maglev train will be able to operate in unmanned mode.

A maglev train, maglev (from English. magnetic levitation - magnetic levitation, editor's note www1.ru) during the movement does not touch the surface of the rail. There is a gap between the train and the paths, which eliminates friction. Braking in such systems is carried out thanks to aerodynamic resistance.

It was previously reported that the capital's monorail will get a magnetic cushion and will become unmanned.
