In Russia, a new ultra-compact navigation system NV-micro has been developed for small-size unmanned aerial vehicles, which is resistant to temperature changes. It includes a temperature stabilization system for the MicroElectroMechanical Systems sensor, which can maintain their accuracy in the range from -50 to +70 degrees Celsius.
The development of MISIS University and specialists from the Integral LLC, a resident of the Technopark Slava, created with the support of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the city of Moscow, can be used for mini-drones in agriculture and monitoring of land-based infrastructure.
The navigation system NV-micro is an ultra-compact navigation device based on MEMS sensors for determining roll, pitch, and course angles of an object. With the presence of a signal from an external satellite navigation receiver, NV-micro additionally calculates the linear speed of the object, coordinates, and its altitude.
Once a signal is received from the satellite, the UAV with NV-micro uses a multi-stage filtering system and elimination of internal errors. This allows it to provide optimal accuracy and minimum delay when calculating parameters.
Also, NV-micro allows the unmanned aerial vehicle to adjust the output parameters from an external magnetometer, air signal systems or an external distance sensor. This helps to increase the navigation accuracy of the UAV and maintain the calculation of its coordinates in case the signal from the satellite suddenly disappears.
