The "Gosuslugi Auto" application was launched in Russia in 2021 and has been installed by 5.5 million drivers. Since then, 4 million electronic copies of vehicle registration certificates (STS) and 2.5 million driver's licenses have been uploaded to its database, according to the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation.
It is noted that the documents uploaded to the application are displayed as QR codes. They are read by traffic police officers using a special device. Other functions are also available in the application, including the execution of a Europrotocol, appealing or paying fines for traffic violations.
The ministry emphasizes that electronic copies of documents are not a substitute for the originals. A traffic police officer may ask the driver to provide a traditional version of the STS and driver's license.
"Gosuslugi Auto" is available in foreign and Russian application stores.
