In Rostov region, tests of the drone detection system have begun. The complex is capable of identifying even small-sized drones.
According to Anatoliy Kalyaev, head of the 'Laboratory 224 of Neural Network Systems' at the Southern Federal University (SFU), expensive radar systems are currently used to detect drones, but they can't always identify small-sized objects.
It is noted that the system proposed by Don scientists is effective in detecting small drones. The system is a gadget with a connected video camera, the information from which is transmitted to the operator.
The program scans the sky, identifies the coordinates and direction of the detected object. The so-called 'Drone Catcher' can be used to protect civil objects and critically important infrastructure.
