Construction of the second diesel-electric icebreaker of project 21180M has begun in Russia. Cruising range - over 12,000 km

The icebreaker's endurance is up to 30 days

A solemn ceremony of laying the keel of a new icebreaker of project 21180M for the Russian Navy took place at the Almaz shipyard in St. Petersburg on September 1. The ship is named "Svyatogor", and it will be the second vessel of project 21180M (the first was "Evpatiy Kolovrat").

The displacement of the 82-meter vessel is 4,080 tons. The icebreaker will serve in the Northern Fleet of Russia. The transfer of "Svyatogor" to the customer will take place in 2027.

The icebreaker of project 21180M is a development of project 21180. The dimensions of the vessel have been reduced in comparison with the basic project, but the icebreaking capability has not been affected: the icebreaker can operate in ice 1 meter thick, the maximum possible thickness of ice overcome is 1.5 meters. The ship's crew is 30 people, the cruising range is over 12,000 km, and the endurance is up to 30 days.
