The Avtodom dealership holding has warned of an upcoming increase in prices for new cars in Russia. According to the holding's press service, as reported to Gazeta.ru, the cost of new cars may rise by 15-20% by the end of this year. This dynamic is associated with a number of factors, including the weakening of the ruble and the increase in the recycling fee.
According to Avtodom, demand for cars in the auto market surged in early August due to the fall of the ruble and the increase in the recycling fee. In the first week of the month alone, a record number of cars were sold – 29,000 units.
However, the subsequent increase in car prices and the change in the key rates of the Central Bank had a negative impact on sales rates.
Representatives of the holding warn of the inevitability of updating price lists by the end of the year. The volatility of the ruble exchange rate and the increase in customs clearance costs are recognized as the main factors influencing price dynamics. This will especially affect premium cars — the amount of the recycling fee for them can reach 1 million rubles. As a result, the cost of cars in this segment is expected to increase by 1 million rubles, respectively.
