Vice President of the Kurchatov Institute Alexander Blagov announced the testing of the modernized thermonuclear device tokamak T-15MD.
The launch of this tokamak (which stands for "toroidal chamber with magnetic coils") took place in May 2021, but it was recently upgraded.
Now we have equipped it with additional heating systems and have already conducted the first tests for the power launch of this device. This is very important event for the development of thermonuclear energy in our country.
Representative of Rosatom, Director of Scientific and Technical Research and Development, Viktor Ilgisonis, reported that the T-15MD is currently being completed. After that, the installation will provide high-level international results.
The next project that we plan to implement within the framework of the program extended by the president's decree until 2030, is the tokamak project with reactor technologies, which, as we hope, will be implemented in the Troitsk Institute of innovative thermonuclear research.
