Vice President of the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" Alexander Blagov reported on testing the modernized thermonuclear installation tokamak T-15MD.
In general, the launch of this tokamak (stands for "toroidal chamber with magnetic coils") took place in May 2021, but it was recently improved.
Now we have equipped it with additional heating systems and have already conducted the first tests on the energy launch of this installation. This is a very important event from the point of view of the development of thermonuclear energy in our country.
A representative of Rosatom, Director of Scientific and Technical Research and Development Viktor Ilgisonis, said that T-15MD is currently being completed. After that, the installation will allow obtaining results of a high international level.
The next project that we plan to implement as part of the program extended by the presidential decree until 2030 is a tokamak project with reactor technologies, which, we hope, will be implemented at the Troitsk Institute of Innovative Thermonuclear Research.
