From September, you can only send registered letters and packages through "Russian Post" with a passport or activated 'Simple Electronic Signature'

This rule is stipulated in the order of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation dated April 17, 2023

«Russian Post» warned about changes in the rules for sending registered letters, parcels, and packages: from September 1, it will not be possible to do it without a passport.

From September 1, 2023, the conditions for receiving registered mailings are changing. The sender must provide the postal employee with an identity document.

The alternative to the passport is a service called 'Simple electronic signature'. It can be activated in one of the three ways:

  • Remotely using a confirmed account on the state services website ;
  • Fill out an online form, come and sign it at the Russian Post office, bringing your passport;
  • Come to the Russian Post office with your passport and fill out a paper form.

The new rule is stipulated in the order of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation dated April 17, 2023. Thus, according to the order, registered postal items will be accepted from September 1, provided the senders or their representatives are identified.
