The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has announced that all ultralight drones (i.e., weighing up to 115 kg) will need to be registered starting from September 1, 2024. In other words, we're talking about absolutely all consumer drones.
The corresponding resolution was signed by the prime minister Mikhail Mishustin. Aircraft of this category will be accounted for by the same rules that are currently used to register "light" drones. The changes to the Registration Rules will take effect on September 1, 2024. After this, owners of such aircraft will have 60 days to register them in accordance with the updated rules.
The Ministry of Transport reminded that the rules for registering drones have been in effect since 2019, but they currently do not apply to ultra-small UAVs.
