Deputy General Designer of RSC Energia and chief designer of the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) Vladimir Kozhevnikov spoke about when the flight of the newest Russian spacecraft "Orel" - an analogue of the American Orion - will take place.
In 2028 - the first unmanned flight, the manned flight - also in 2028. That is, two flights in 2028: unmanned and manned.
When creating "Orel", it was planned that it would perform flights to the ROS. Accordingly, the Russian Orbital Station will be launched a little earlier – the first module, the scientific and energy module (NEM), will go into orbit at the end of 2027. "Orel" will dock to it.
The remaining ROS modules, according to Kozhevnikov, will be sent into orbit in 2028-2030. These are the nodal, gateway, basic and target modules. After their docking with the NEM, the Russian orbital station will acquire its final configuration.
